A Letter to My Future Self

Dear Future Ryan,

How’s life at age 28? Can you believe that it’s been 10 years since you and many other Class of 2014 high school seniors were waiting to find out what school you’d be attending in the fall? My, how time flies! I hope you haven’t changed and that you’re still listening to music everywhere you go. In high school you were glued to your Beats™ headphones. I’m sure that technology has advanced a great deal more by now and that there are many new gadgets on the market. I hope you haven’t lost that hope that you might still play in the NBA one day, even if you are only 5’8” and have never played high school basketball. Are you still an Indiana Pacers fan? Hopefully they have won a championship by now. Above all, I hope that you haven’t given up on achieving anything and everything that you’ve set your mind to.

Wow! I still can’t get past the fact that you’re two years short of 30 now! You’re getting old, man. They’re so many questions I want to ask you. What college did you attend and how was the experience? Did you get to travel to all of your desired places, Australia included? Did you pursue your MBA? Ah! Did you have a lot of student loans? I hope not, as I know you were exploring all types of scholarship opportunities in order to avoid them.

I’m very proud of you and all of your accomplishments. Don’t ever let that change and don’t ever stop being you!

Much Love,
Your younger self
